Hello and welcome! I'm Andrea, owner and bakery chef of The Baking Penguin. The Baking Penguin, named after my favorite animal, is a home-based bakery, registered with the DuPage County Health Department. I currently feature dessert breads, cake pops, and dipped treats, with plans to expand my menu offerings next summer. After losing my job in 2019, I was seeking a new pursuit. I happened to bake a banana bread for my mother-in- law, who brought it to her work and shared with her coworkers. Suddenly, my new adventure quickly unfolded before me, with my signature banana bread becoming its foundation. Next thing I knew, I had multiple requests for more bread. As everyone loved my bread and craved more, my home bakery was born. Ever passionate about refining my skills, I am thrilled to announce that I will graduate in May 2025 with an additional degree in Pastry Arts. I plan on incorporating many of these new techniques into my business, as I've cultivated many exciting talents. I am also a breast cancer survivor. Losing my job was a blessing in disguise, as I was able to focus solely on my treatment and recovery. Baking was a needed therapy that kept me grounded while my world was spinning out of control. Now, as a survivor on the other side of cancer, my life is a whole lot sweeter. I look forward to baking for you and making your life a little bit sweeter as well.
